A Wild, Steamy, and Hilariously Chaotic Adventure

With a title as outrageous as I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I'm Trapped in a Rom-Com, I knew I was in for a wild ride—and wow, did Kimberly Lemming deliver!

This book is an absolute romp through the cosmos, packed with humor, sizzling chemistry, and unexpected adventure.

As someone who has only recently dipped their toes into the world of alien romances (hello, Ice Planet Barbarians fans!), I wasn’t sure what to expect.

But when the publisher sent me a widget to download this e-galley, I couldn’t resist. And I’m so glad I didn’t!

A Relatable Heroine & a Sci-Fi Twist

Our protagonist, Dory, starts off as a scientist studying meerkats on Earth—something that instantly spoke to my former science-teacher heart. (Honestly, who doesn’t love meerkats?

 I could watch them at the zoo all day!) But soon, she finds herself abducted by aliens, waking up on a spaceship, and thrown headfirst into an intergalactic rom-com situation.

This setup initially reminded me of Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians series, but Lemming takes things in a delightfully unique direction.

Crash-Landing into Chaos

After an unexpected crash landing, Dory finds herself on a bizarre alien planet filled with strange creatures (some of which she’s forced to name on the spot).

The world-building here is colorful, weird, and so much fun.

While there’s the expected language barrier, Lemming cleverly finds a solution—though I’ll admit, I might need to reread that part involving a lion to fully grasp it! Still, I was so caught up in the fast-paced plot that I didn’t mind a bit of confusion.

The Steam Factor? Off the Charts!

Let’s talk about the romance. Or rather, the romances—because Dory isn’t just dealing with one alien love interest.

Enter Sol and Lok, two sexy, tail-swinging aliens who are thrown into an intense, chemically-induced attraction with our heroine thanks to a lust/mating serum. 

The chemistry? Explosive. The tension? Palpable. And yes, the tails are... well, let’s just say they play a very interesting role in the romance department.

A Hilarious Take on the Rom-Com Genre

One of the most genius aspects of this book is how the romance itself is orchestrated.

 The aliens who abducted Dory relied on mating guidebooks (which are basically romance novels) to help ensure a successful love story between her and Sol and Lok.

 The result? Every classic rom-com trope you can imagine—including the one-bed scenario, where entire houses are designed with just one giant bed on the second floor.

I was cackling at some of the misunderstandings and setups, making this book not just steamy but laugh-out-loud funny.

A Few Minor Stumbles

The only issue I had was with the naming conventions of the alien flora and fauna. While I understand that Sol and Lok’s species would have their own words for things, the way Dory switched between those names and her own in the same paragraph occasionally tripped me up.

 But honestly? That’s a tiny nitpick in an otherwise stellar read.

If you love sci-fi romance with a healthy dose of humor, steam, and quirky world-building, I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com is the book for you.

Fans of Ice Planet Barbarians or other alien romance series will feel right at home with Kimberly Lemming’s signature mix of adventure and fun.

 And with this being the first book in the Cosmic Chaos series, I can’t wait to see whose love story is up next!
